The story starts when we meet Tsukino Usagi (Bunny Tsukino in Italy) a tipical japan student of 14 years old, careless, crybaby, and always into trouble. She loves to play Videogames, and she's a mess in all school arguments. Her best hero is Sailor V, the soldier of justice and love, and her big dream is to find someone to love, and become a bride. But an unexpected whirlwind arrives to mess up her normal life: a whirlwind with two pointed ears, 4 paws and a tail: I'm talking about a kitty, named Luna.
Usagi saved her by some very bad children that were torturing her. The kitty follow her for all the day, when she's spending her time in the Video Games center, during her way to home, during her meeting/collision with a very handsome but very rude (by her opinion) boy , and even when her mother punishes her because she had a very very bad result in school test.
But Usagi is really surprised when the kitty, in Usagi's room, starts speack with her, and she tells her that she's the predestined person to become the beautiful soldier Sailor Moon. Usagi thinks she's dreaming, and makes fun of Luna. But the cat gives to Usagi a pin, and says to the girl to try: at least, nothing would happen!
Usagi agrees with Luna (even because she loves the pin Luna gave her) and cry: Moon Prism Power, Make Up! (in Italy "Moon Cristal power make up!" in italian language). And suddently Usagi turns into the beautiful soldier Sailor Moon! Later, Luna will give to Usagi even a pen that can trasform the girl into any person she wants.
But the girl can't recover her surprise: infact thanks to the Sailor Moon fancy dress, Usagi hears her best friend, Naru (Nina in It)crying and asking help. Suddently she runs help her, but she gets into trouble, because she can't know how to use her new powers! Luckily, a very handsome boy arrives, a boy that wears a smocking and a mask in his face, and help Sailor Moon fighting, and making her destroy the ennemy. Obviously Usagi falls suddently inlove with the handsome boy, that presented himself as "Tuxedo Kamen" (Milord in It).
This is the start of the Sailor Moon great adventures. Luna explains to Usagi what she remembers of their mission: thay have to find all the soldiers, and find back their Princess, Princess Serenity. They have even to find the powerful "Maboroshi no Ginzuisho" (Illusion's Silver Cristal, in Italy named only Silver Cristal, obviously traslated), a gem that will appears when they will put together the princess and all Rainbow Cristals.
Slowly, all soldiers are found: the soldiers are the reincarnations of the 4 soldiers that lived very very long time ago on the Moon, in a Kingdom named "Silver Millennium" (Silver Kingdom in Italy). The remember of this ancient life is cached in their memory.
The first soldier they find is Mizuno Ami (Emy in It), a girl that goes to the same school of Usagi, and that's really very intelligent. Then arrives Sailor Mars, that is a young miko named Hino Rei (Rea in It), a girl with some strange and mistyc powers. Then, Kino Makoto (Morea in It), a new transfered student in Usagi's school, a girl very strong, found to be Sailor Jupiter (in Italy the name Jupiter has been pronounced in the latin way, Yupiter). Our soldiers, step by step, defeat all Dark Kingdom's Generals, with the help of the ubiquitous Tuxedo Kamen. The First General of Queen Beryl is Jidaite (Jack in It). He will be very dangerous for the Soldiers, but the girls will always defeat him. So, after some episodes, Queen Beryl turns him into a gem, and send on the Earth Nefrite, the second of her generals. Reguarding this character, the story is very different, between the anime and the manga version: here I'm speacking about anime version, so I will tell you what's happened in the anime.
Nefrite in anime version trys a lot of times to destroy Sailor Soldiers. But at the end, he falls inlove with pretty Naru, the best Usagi's friend. The girl, very inlove with him, understands that he's an Evil person. But she continues to love him, and she's ready to loose her life to save him from Sailor Moon fight.
Her behaviour touches Nefrite in his hearth, and his feelings come out from the Darkness. To save Naru by the trap of Zoisite (Zakar in It), he riskes even to loose his life. Naru is a very sweet girl, and she could find the Good even in a man completely posseded by Evil. Thanks to Naru, Nefrite changed, and promises to her that he would come with her eating a sweet cake, and he laughs with her.
But this amusement is fatal to him: Nefrite dies trying to save Naru by the new attack of Zoisite's monster. And poor Naru can't even have a dead body to cry above: the body of Nefrite disappears when he's deading.
This point is really one of the most sad and touching of all the first season of Sailor Moon (Nefrite is my favourite character of the first serie)
So, now it's Zoisite turn. Zoisite (Zakar), in Italy, has been changed to a girl, to make children safe from the fact he was an Homosexual (he's inlove with Kunzite, in Italy Lord Kaspar). In first episodes, Usagi met a very handsome boy named Chiba Mamoru (Chiba is the family name, and Mamoru the first name, but in Italy his name is Marzio Mamoru, where Marzio is the first name and Mamoru the family name). Usagi can't suffer him, because he's always in her way when she's in embarassing situations, and he makes fun of her. But Mamoru, in reality, is Tuxedo Kamen, and he's searching the Maboroshi no Ginzuisho too. The boy is orphan of mother and father by the age of 6 years old, and sometimes (now most frequently) he has a recurrent dream. In this dream, he sees a young girl with blond hair in the shade, that asks to a masked boy to find the Maboroshi no Ginzuisho. Mamoru can't remember what happen to him when he's in Tuxedo Kamen form, but he advices that something happen, and he would like to remember. He thinks that when he will find the Maboroshi no Ginzuisho everything would be clear to him, as the blond girl says in his dream.
The first of Rainbow Cristals is taken by Zoisite, the second by the Sailor Soldiers. But finally, Mamoru could take the third cristal. And when he comes back normal, he still remembers Sailor Moon and every event that happen to him in Tuxedo Kamen form! He remembers Sailor Moon, and now he knows that the masked boy whom the beautiful girl speacks during the dreams is him!
But the Soldiers are really disappointed: they can't understand if Tuxedo is a friend or not, now that he stolen to them one of the cristals! But Usagi still continues believing in him in her hearth.
At this point of the story, finally, the last sailor soldier arrives: she's Sailor Venus, aka Sailor V, aka Aino Minako (Marta in It). She was the first soldier to remember something of her past, thanks to the help of her cat, Artemis (same in It). Artemis was the one that said the suggestions to Luna, between the Sailor V game. This video game was a real computer that they used as comunication and even as research instrument. Finally, all the cristals are found: the Dark Kingdom has some of them, and the others had Tuxedo Kamen. Zoisite found Tuxedo's real identity, and he invites him to a meeting to give them his cristals. Tuxedo has been hard hurted in the last match, and during his way to the meeting, he meets Usagi. The girl sees that Mamoru has the same wound that Tuxedo had, and she would like he go to hospital. But he says to her to go away.
Unfortunatly, Usagi follows him too much, and she's involved in Zoisite's trap. To save her, Mamoru gives to Zoisite his cristals, but Zoisite at this point, makes the trap start, and they would really die! So, Usagi has to trasform herself into Sailor Moon infront of Mamoru.... and she's really surprised when he trasforms himself into Tuxedo Kamen, in the same time!
But there's no time to speack about that: Zoisite attacks, and to protect Sailor Moon, Tuxedo get a very very very bad hurt! He seems dead! Usagi cries with pain, and suddently, a very dazzling light wrap up her: the rainbow cristals disappeared, and Usagi turns herself into Princess Serenity, infront to a very disappointed Zoisite and Kunzite! By one of Usagi's tears, Maboroshi no Ginzuisho appears, and Usagi could remember a lot of things about her precedent life: she was inlove with the handsome Endymion, and Endymion is Mamoru! But she can't remember still everything, and she will know all the story after some episode, from an image of Queen Serenity (her ancient mother) in Silver Millennium. To make things easy, I will tell the story here:
Once upon a time, on the Moon there was a very beautiful kingdom, named "Silver Millennium", where Gods lived. The people that lived in Silver Millennium were quite immortal, and their long-life and their power were caused by the Maboroshi no Ginzuisho. The Queen of this peaceful and beautiful world was Serenity, a very beautiful woman, that protected the Moon and the Earth with her power. The daughter of the Queen, Neo Serenity, loved very much to watch to the green planet named Earth, so different from her Silver world, so full of life, and so beautiful. Sometimes, she went on the Earth, and in this way, she met an handsome boy, a prince named Endymion. They fallen inlove each other, and sometimes Endymion went to Moon Kingdom to speack with Serenity, and to dance with her.
But someone plotted to destroy their happyness, a very Evil monster named Metallia posseded the mind of Queen Beryl (Periglia in It), that was jalous of Serenity, because she was inlove with Endymion too. She entered in the mind of all Earth Generals (that were the Dark Kingdom Generals that Usagi and Tuxedo had killed), and in the mind of all Earth living persons. She made them envy the long-life and the power of Moon people, and she bringed them attack the Moon. Metallia wanted to stolen the Maboroshi no Ginzuisho to become the most powerful thing in Galaxy, and she exploited Beryl, Generals and all Earth people. Endymion tried to stop his friends, but he couldn't and at the end, in this battle, either Endymion, Serenity, and all the Soldier dead. Queen Serenity, looking to this tragedy, decided to use all Maboroshi no Ginzuisho power, and she could quiet Metallia, and capture her into Ginzuisho. But she left her life, and her kingdom was destroyed. Before dying, she used the last Ginzuisho power to make sure that Serenity, Endymion, and the 4 soldiers will live back in another time, in the future, and on Earth, the world that Serenity loved so much. Even Artenis and Luna, her advisers, were sent on Earth to help them, because there were the possibility that Metallia, Beryl and other would come back to life!
Now, we come back into the story. The other soldiers arrived just in time to see the trasformation of Usagi into Princess Serenity, and they could save Usagi. Mamoru instead is stolen by Evil Queen Beryl, that had recognized him as Endymion. The Queen darkened his mind, and now Endymion is the new ennemy!
This is too much for the poor Usagi: she's very depressed, and only the help of her friends makes her feel better soon. Endymion is really the most powerful of their opponents, and the girls can't fight normally against him, because they remember that he was a friend of them. But they have the chance that Kunzite's not dead, and that he wants to defeat Sailor Moon and others to take revenge to death of Zoisite, killed by Beryl. So he quarrel very much against Endymion, obstructing his plans.
Kunzite prepared a plan, and he attacks the soldiers when they are on the way to arrive to the headquartier of Dark Kingdom, placed in D point in North Pole. He attacks them in a cavern, and he closes them in a temporal paradox out of whom they teorically couldn't never go. But Maboroshi no Ginzuisho helps them, and they arrive on the Moon, awhere they find the ologram of Queen Serenity, that tells to them Silver Millennium story. Finally every doubt comes out from their minds, and they find back the complete knowledge of their past life. They come back to real time, and they attack the ennemies. But unfortunatly, all 4 soldiers die fighting against the most powerful monster sent by Beryl, the demoniac group DDG. Now there's only Usagi, that run to Queen's Beryl palace, helped by the spirits of all her friends.
She found Mamoru there, and he attacks her. She tries to make him remember all their beautiful moments, and their ancient love. But Endymion is completely posseded by Evil, and he cannot come back normal. He tries even to choke Usagi, telling her to give to him Maboroshi no Ginzuisho. So, Usagi uses her last hope: she opens infront of him the carillon Endymion gave to Serenity in their precedent life, (the carillon plays Moonlight Densetsu, the op song of the serie) and she tells to him that he can even kill her, because she can't attack him.
And in this moment, the miracle arrives: the Beryl's spell is broken, and Mamoru in a moment remember everything, and come back normal. But Beryl can't admit to loose Prince Endymion, and Metallia posseded definitly her. She attacks Sailor Moon, and Mamoru, to protect Usagi, looses his life. Usagi cries, and wears the Serenity dress. She starts a battle with Beryl. At start, she's a little unsure to win, but then all the ghosts of her friends appear, and they help her. So she can defeat Beryl, and she destroys completely Metallia. But she looses her life. Thanks to Maboroshi no Ginzuisho, Usagi, Mamoru, and the other soldiers come back to life, and Maboroshi no Gizuisho grants the last Usagi's wish: to come back to normality, and to forget everything about these horrible events. Usagi wants to come back to be a normal school girl, and she desires to live a normal life. And this happens: last scene of the anime shows the girls that are came back to normal life, and that can't remember even each other.
